Legendary South Africa cricketer Jony Rhodes was impressed by a ball boy, who showcased an exceptional fielding effort during the IPL 2024 fixture between Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders at Ekana Stadium on Sunday. The ball boy, named Atharw Gupta, hogged the limelight in the second innings when LSG were chasing a target of 236. The Lucknow Super Giants faced a batting collapse in the second innings to suffer a 98-run defeat in the home game against Kolkata Knight Riders. With Sunil Narine continuing his sublime form with the bat, Kolkata Knight Riders easily managed to breach the 200-run mark against the KL Rahul-led side. Narine hit six boundaries and seven maximums to score 81 off just 39 deliveries. The other KKR batters used the foundation well and contributed accordingly.
Lucknow Super Giants made a powerful start to the run chase but failed to capitalise on it. After KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis combined for a 50-run stand, no batter was able to survive long. The hosts ultimately were bundled out for 137 in 16.1 overs.
