Free Trial
You can get Amazon Prime free for 30 days. When first signing up for Prime, you’ll be offered a free trial for 30 days. You won’t be charged for your trial and will be able to access all Prime offerings, such as Prime Video, free two-day shipping, Prime Music, and more. Know that you’ll be asked to provide a credit card number when signing up for the trial. Once the trial is over, your card will be charged for a paid membership automatically. If you’re hoping to test out Prime for a limited time, this is the best option. Just make sure to cancel your membership before the 30-day period ends. Amazon Prime is $14.99 monthly or $139 annually. Know that free trials aren’t available in every region.
Prime for Young Adults
College students or those 18-24 years old can get Prime at a discount. Formerly known as Amazon Student, Prime for Young Adults is a special Prime offering exclusively for college-enrolled students or those 18-24 years old. Eligible members can receive a free 6-month trial of Prime and a considerable discount on services after. You’ll be billed for a paid membership ($7.49 per month) once the trial period ends. Prime for Young Adult members will be asked to verify their student status or age. After four years of university or once you turn 25, your membership will automatically transfer to a normal Prime Membership.
Prime Access
Qualifying EBT and government assistance recipients can save on Prime. If you receive government aid (such as SSI, SNAP, or Medicaid), you may qualify for a discounted Prime Membership. Prime Access members pay $6.99 per month for a membership, making it the cheapest way to get Prime. For a full list of who’s eligible for Prime Access, click here. You’ll be asked to verify your eligibility for Prime Access when signing up and every 12 months after. You can receive the Prime discount for up to 4 years.
Amazon Family
If someone in your family has Prime, you could use their benefits. Amazon Family lets you share Prime benefits with one other adult, four teens, and four children within the same household. The subscription is shared, but you could access Prime content and services for free with the host’s permission. Amazon Family does not offer a discount for members, and services are $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Amazon Family benefits can not be shared with free trial members, Student and Young Adult Prime members, or Prime Video-only members.
Credit Card Rewards
Prime Visa and Amazon Visa holders can use cash back toward Prime. If you have an Amazon Prime Visa credit card, you can earn many perks, including cash back that can be used toward a Prime membership. Cardmembers earn 5% or 3% back at Amazon.com. Points and cash back earned can be used on eligible Amazon purchases. Many cardmembers use their Prime Visa to pay for their Prime membership, helping them earn points and cash back that can be used for future Amazon purchases or subscriptions. Sign up for a Prime or Amazon Visa here.
Amazon Gift Cards
Amazon gift cards can be used to “gift” yourself a membership for free. Received an Amazon gift card for your birthday or other celebration? If so, it can be used toward a Prime membership. While you’re still technically paying for the membership, since the gift card was gifted to you, it’s like it’s free! Simply sign up for Prime as you normally would, just select that you’re using a gift card for the subscription.
