Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins posed alongside Travis Head in a wholesome selfie following a record-breaking win over the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Head played a jaw-dropping innings against the Faf du Plessis-led side on Monday, scoring the fourth-fastest century in IPL history. The Aussie batter produced an epic knock of 102 off 41 balls while belting nine boundaries and eight maximums against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. His innings spearheaded the visitors into a 25-run victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru earning him a special medallion. Head could be seen donning a special gold medallion with the team’s logo in front of it as he posed along with his skipper in the celebratory selfie. “This guy! 287 runs in a T20”, read Cummins’ Instagram post.

The fans at the M Chinnswasmy Stadium in Bengaluru were in for an absolute treat in the IPL 2024 fixture held yesterday. Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a lightning-fast start to their innings as the duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head stitched a 108-run partnership in eight overs. Abhishek was for 34 by Reece Topley, making way for South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen. Having smashed a whopping seven sixes, Klaasen quickly accumulated 67 runs off 31 balls. He was eventually dismissed in the 17th over but it did not stop the visiting side’s batting wrath.

Aiden Markram added 32 runs before Abdul Samad produced another 37 facing 10 balls. This led to Sunrisers Hyderabad breaking their own record for the most runs scored by a team in an innings in the history of IPL. Sunrisers Hyderabad had recently set the previous record against the Mumbai Indians.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis led the chase for the hosts, scoring 80 runs before losing a wicket. Eventually, the former skipper was dismissed for 42. Du Plessis carried forward the momentum, smashing 62 runs off 28 balls. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, however, kept losing wickets in frequent intervals leaving them reeling at 122 at the loss of five wickets by the end of the 10th over. Dinesh Karthik attempted to rescue the innings for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as he scored a 35-ball 83. The hosts were only able to reach a total of 262 in 20 overs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have now won their third straight game and fourth overall in IPL 2024. The Pat Cummins-led side are now placed at the fourth spot in the IPL 2024 standings.
