India Squad for Remaining England Tests Likely in Next 24-48 Hours; BCCI Mum on Virat Kohli
India squad for Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala Tests is likely to be picked in next 48 hours; Indian cricket board remains mum on Virat Kohli's availability.

India’s Test squad for the remaining three matches vs England is likely to be announced in the next 48 hours. There are few injury concerns in the Indian camp at the moment as both Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul missed the second Test in Hyderabad and it is understood that the former’s injury could take some time before he regains match fitness.

The suspense continues around Virat Kohli’s participation in the remainder of the series as CricketNext reached out to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials with multiple queries on the star India batter’s status but the cricket board remained mum.

Even coach Rahul Dravid, when asked at the post-match presser in Visakhapatnam, kept the suspense alive and said the selectors “are the best people to answer”.

“I think it’s best to ask the selectors. I am sure they are the best people to answer ahead of the team selection for the next three Tests. We will get to that. I am sure there will be a selection over the next few days. We will connect with him and find out,” Dravid said.

The only word from the BCCI on Kohli came in a media advisory on January 22 where they informed about the former India captain’s withdrawal from the first two Tests in Hyderabad and Vizag respectively.

“Mr Virat Kohli has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be withdrawn from the first two Tests of the upcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England, citing personal reasons.

Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention,” read a BCCI statement.

It remains to be seen whether Kohli will make himself available for the remaining three Tests of the series currently levelled at 1-1. The action will resume in Rajkot on February 15 before moving to Ranchi and Dharamsala for the final two Tests of the series. India lost the series opener in Hyderabad before staging an emphatic comeback in Visakhapatnam.
