ICC ODI Team of 2023: Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Among Six Indians in Playing Eleven
The ICC ODI Team of 2023 is dominated by Indians with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami included.

The International Cricket Council has announced its ODI Team of 2023 with as many as six Indians making the cut including the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

The eleven is dominated by Indians and features two Australians, two South Africans and one from New Zealand.

Shubman Gill, Mohammed Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj are the other India stars who have been including besides Rohit and Kohli.

Rohit played an intrinsic role in India’s unbeaten march into the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup as he finished second in the list of top run-getters of the showpiece behind teammate Kohli whose record-breaking show saw him win player-of-the-tournament award as well.

Gill had a terrific 2023  in ODIs before being struck by a bout of dengue days before the start of the world cup in India. He finished as the leading run-getter of the calendar year.

Travis Head was the star of Australia’s winning campaign, hitting a memorable century against India in the final.

Allrounder Daryl Mitchell scored 1204 runs during 2023 including five centuries and scored two hundreds in the world cup, both against India.

South African Heinrich Klaasen took his big-hitting skills to another level, blasting a stunning 174 against Australia during  an ODI against Australia in the lead up to the world cup. He then scored 109 against England in Mumbai to set up a big win for South Africa.

Klaasen has been joined by allrounder Marco Jansen who was quite consistent with the ball for South Africa and also showed his batting chops whenever he got the opportunity.

Australian Adam Zampa, the second-highest wicket-taker of the world cup last year, makes the cut as the legspinner.

Zampa will have left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav for company who took 49 wickets last year in ODIs.

Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj complete the pace attack.

Shami had a world cup to remember, taking 24 wickets in just 7 matches for India to finish at the leading wicket-taker. On the other hand, Siraj finished 2023 with 43 wickets to his name including a breathtaking 6/21 against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final.
