'Don't Think we Are Thinking About it Too Much': Rishabh Pant's Frank Assesment on 'Bazball'
Ahead of his highly anticipated return, Rishabh Pant revealed his thought on 'Bazball'.

The highly anticipated return of India’s wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant is just around the corner and the star man has gone on to feature in a podcast with a couple of cricket legends.

Speaking in the Club Prairie Fire podcast on YouTube, Pant made a special appearance before returning to lead the Delhi Capitals again in IPL 2024. One of the hot topics up for discussion was Pant’s thought on Bazball after England were outplayed to suffer a 1-4 series loss during their Test tour of India.

Pant revealed,” I don’t think we are thinking about it too much. As a team, you have to find your strength and not think about the opposition too much. Yes, you have to take the knowledge of how they play but you got to focus on yourself and give your best shot instead of thinking about other teams.”

The DC skipper was also asked about the favourite English bowler he enjoyed hitting the most and he had the perfect answer. He said,” I think every bowler. It’s so difficult to single out names because you want to play the best. But I would say the difficult part was Jimmy Anderson, I wouldn’t lie. He is a legend of the game and the way he has played is amazing.”

The 26-year-old has been a class wicketkeeper-batter, especially in the longest format. He has had some friendly tussles with Anderson during the various clashes earlier. Pant added, “I feel that whatever you are doing on the field, it’s a different ball game altogether. But when you field respect for someone, you should appreciate that. That’s what cricket has taught me. That guy is amazing. Day in and day out just coming and bowling there, each day that’s what he does.”

The 26-year-old was asked about his thoughts regarding the verbal battles that take place and he gave a frank response to it. He commented,” I think it is amazing that it adds a certain dynamic to the game. It’s not just we’re playing cricket out there but we are fighting to win the match. And when you’re fighting with that kind of compassion, something has to come out. Because of the stump-mic, we try to curb our instinct all the time. Sometimes, you have to let it free, just go out there and play the way you want to and be relaxed on the field.”

Pant will make his comeback following his long spell out of the field. He will be aiming to make an impact on the field once again with his captaincy and batting skills to make an emphatic return to Indian cricket.
