The internet is an endless source of captivating content, with videos ranging from hilarious to downright shocking. One such unforgettable moment occurred in 2014 when American conservationist and author Paul Rosolie stunned the world with a daring stunt featured on Discovery Channel. In the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, Rosolie allowed himself to be “consumed by an anaconda”, a spectacle that left viewers in disbelief.
However, the spectacle took a terrifying turn when Rosolie felt his ribcage under immense pressure, prompting him to halt the stunt immediately. In an interaction with media outlet Today, Paul Rosolie revealed that his real intention was to grab eyeballs. “I thought I want to do something that’s just going to grab people’s attention,” he mentioned.
In another interview with LADbible, Rosolie shared that he spent over two decades working with indigenous tribes in the Amazon rainforest, since living in a city did not make him happy. His sole goal was to “protect the last truly wild places on the planet”. He explained that he spends most of the year “sleeping outdoors” and lives in deeper regions of the Amazon rainforest with all types of animals.
Recounting the fateful day of being eaten by an anaconda, Paul Rosolie shared, “I did get wrapped with no suit, no protection. And when you catch an anaconda you have to secure the head, so I had secured the head, and this thing’s head is big, it’s a huge reptile head with 200 teeth in it. They lock your wrists together first and then the next coil comes over your shoulder. So I actually almost had my shoulders touched. And I came inches away, moments away from having my ribcage explode. And JJ, my friend, saved my life.”
The conservationist, Paul Rosolie concluded his statement with a noble message to the public. He emphasised taking better care of the ecosystem as well as the animals as humans are not the “only species here”. He pointed out that the indigenous tribe is trying their best to protect the Amazon Rainforest because civilised people have forgotten that without a healthy environment, the world might be heading towards doom.
