How JEE Advanced Topper Ved Lahoti Prepared For The Exam: 'Never Saw The Clock While Studying'
"I kept myself away from social media because it is a waste of time,” Ved Lahoti said.

JEE Advanced is one of the most competitive exams. This year alone, 1,80,200 candidates appeared for papers 1 and 2 of JEE Advanced, held on May 26. Out of all the candidates, Ved Lahoti of the IIT Delhi zone appeared at the top of the Common Rank List (CRL). He secured 355 out of 360 marks. While speaking to ANI about the “secret” of his success, the young aspirant said he removed distractions like social media from his life and studied without counting the hours.

“I never saw the clock while studying. I focused more on qualitative study. I kept myself away from social media because it is a waste of time,” Ved Lahoti told ANI. When asked about how JEE candidates can cope with stress, he said they should share their problems with their parents and teachers and seek their advice.

Commenting on the topper’s remarks, an X user wrote, “Congratulations Ved Lahoti. Key Insights at his age,” focused more on qualitative study. I kept myself away from social media because it is a waste of time.”

Another person wrote, “Who needs a clock when you’re acing it, right? Social media can be a slippery slope! Good advice for the aspirants.”

In a conversation with Allen, a coaching institute for competitive exams, Ved Lahoti said that he is still contemplating which university and department to select for his further studies.

This year, just 48,248 candidates have qualified, out of which 7,964 are female candidates. Dwija Dharmeshkumar Patel of IIT Bombay zone became the top-ranked female candidate after she obtained 332 out of 360 marks.

The JEE-Advanced is held annually in India to test the skills and knowledge of the applicants in physics, chemistry and math. The exam is set by one of the seven zonal IITs (IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati) under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board.

Not just IITs, other prestigious universities like the Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy, the Indian Institute of Space Technology and the Indian Institute of Science also consider JEE Advanced results during admissions.
