HYDERABAD: Support continued to pour in for Anna Hazare’s Jan Lokpal Bill movement and people belonging to all walks of life joined protests against Hazare’s arrest for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. The ABVP gave a call for educational institutions bandh on Thursday protesting against the arrest.Advocates boycotted courts, Lok Satta party members staged protest on the Tank Bund while the Telangana Joint Action Committee staged a maha dharna at the Indira Park.ABVP, as part of their nation-wide protest against the arrest of Anna Hazare, gave a bandh call of educational institutions.ABVP national executive member T Ramakrishna criticised Hazare’s arrest and said the country needs a strong Lokpal Bill. He demanded that Anna Hazare should be given permission to continue his fast without any conditions. The ABVP would take out rallies on the Osmania University campus on Thursday and also across the state, he said.Meanwhile, advocates across the Telangana region, barring the High Court, boycotted courts and staged protests. ‘’The Prime Minister, judiciary and agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should also be brought under the Lokpal Bill,’’ Telangana Advocates JAC co-convenor T Sriranga Rao demanded.Condemning the arrest of Anna Hazare, Sriranga Rao said the government should allow him to go ahead with his deeksha without putting any conditions. Members of Lok Satta party protested against the arrest of Anna Hazare. The members, who gathered at the Tank Bund shouted slogans in support of Anna. Waving the national flag, they demanded that the Jan Lokpal Bill be introduced in the Parliament immediately. Party spokesperson Lakshman Balaji said it is only through the Lokpal bill that corruption can be rooted out and justice can be done to the common man.At Indira Park, another group of protestors congregated demanding introduction of the Lokpal Bill. The Andhra Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Association members have taken up a 3-day hunger strike in support of Hazare. Speaking on the occasion, association president A Rangaiah Goud said he had met Anna Hazare in May and promised to create awareness among the public in the state about it. Meanwhile city police imposed curbs on the entry of media into the Nampally criminal courts complex creating a mild flutter. Media, who went to the cover the advocates protesting against Hazare’s arrest, were prevented from entering the court compound.
