Sharing and Using WeChat QR Codes

2 Ways Scan a WeChat QR Code

In the upper right corner, tap + then Scan. This will open the WeChat QR code scanner so you can scan a personal or group QR code to add a friend or join a group chat instantly.

At the bottom, tap Discover then Scan. This will also open the WeChat QR code scanner so you can scan a personal or group QR code to instantly add a friend or join a group chat.

How to Share Each Type of WeChat QR Code

Personal QR code. Each WeChat user has a personal QR code that can be used to add friends instantly. You can also customize the style of your WeChat QR code to reflect your personality. To find your QR code, go to the Me tab, tap your profile picture at the top of the page, then tap My QR Code. To share your personal QR code, tap Save Image at the bottom of the screen. Your QR code doesn't expire. To customize your QR code, on the "My QR Code" page, tap the Change style button at the bottom of the page.

Group QR code. If you're in a group chat with under 100 members, you can add new members via a QR code. If the group chat has more than 100 members, you'll need to invite them manually. To get a group chat's QR code, open the group chat and tap the people icon in the upper right to open the group settings. Tap Group QR Code to view the QR code. To save the QR code, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and select Save Image or Share via Email. WeChat group QR codes are valid for seven days, and the expiration date of the QR code is listed underneath it.
