A day after Union Minister Maneka Gandhi decided to act against those abusing women online, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has questioned her move.
NCW Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam on raised strong objections to her anti-trolling drive asking how it was possible to police the net.
"NCW will do whatever it can do to help the initiative taken by the Ministry of woman and development", she said.
In an effort to check online trolls, Woman and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi on Tuesday asked all women at the receiving end of such abuses to inform her and share their experiences.
"Are you a woman who is trolled or abused? Inform me at [email protected]." Maneka tweeted on Tuesday.

The minister said she has also directed the National Commission for Women (NCW) to monitor instances where women are at the receiving end of trolling.
She said her tweet was in response to the recent incident in which singer Sona Mohapatra was threatened online, mainly by fans of actor Salman Khan.
The singer was targeted for speaking out on social media against Salman Khan’s rape analogy for laborious shooting schedule for his latest film.
In May, at the WCD ministry's behest, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had issued detailed guidelines to matrimonial websites making it mandatory, among other things, for users to provide identification proof.
NCW chief Lalitha Kumaramangalam said the commission has brought the matter to the notice of the Delhi cyber crime unit. But, she said, the cyber laws in the country are so weak that it is difficult to track such trolls.
