THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The fourth Children’s Environment Congress concluded here on Friday. The two-day congress was attended by around 170 students and teachers representing various schools in the state.  The event was noted for the mass participation from the northern districts such as Wayanad, Kannur and Palakkad.   State Biodiversity Board chairman R V Varma inaugurated the valedictory meeting. Biodiversity Board member-secretary K P Laladhas and principal scientist P P Shaji spoke at the function.  Documentaries titled ‘Ente Veedu Oru Poonkavanam’ and ‘Periyar Kadinte Sangeetham, Jeevanteyum’, directed by renowned nature photographer Suresh Elamon were screened at the function. Discussions, debates and competitions in various categories were held as part of the event. Various schools displayed their biodiversity project models. R V Varma and K P Laladhas distributed prizes to the winners at the valedictory function. Pattom St Mary’s School won the ever-rolling trophy.   A painting exhibition displaying the works of students was held.
