CBI pinning Sohrabuddin's crimes on me: Amit Shah
Ex-Gujarat minister Amit Shah on Thursday told the Supreme Court that CBI is pinning Sohrabuddin's crimes on him.

New Delhi: Former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah on Thursday told the Supreme Court (SC) that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was trying to heap all the sins of extortion committed by Sohrabuddin Sheikh on him by branding him the head of the extortion racket having politician-police-criminal nexus.

The apex court bench of Justice P Sathasivam and Justice BS Chauhan was told that the conduct of the CBI does not inspire confidence and it has become a party to political conspiracy.

"The CBI was a subordinate police force of the central government in the cases having political implications", the court was told.

Appearing for Amit Shah, who has been barred from entering Gujarat, senior counsel Ram Jethmalani said, "The illusion must go that CBI is an extraordinary organization of angles and does nothing that is dishonest and corrupt."

As Jethmalani mounted an attack on the investigating agency and its motives, senior counsel KTS Tulsi appearing for the CBI said, "Shah and his lawyer are not only indulging in the destruction of evidence but also fabrication of documents and intimidation of witnesses."

"Every politician thinks that he can scandalise the whole world," Tulsi said adding that "Amit Shah is unnecessarily scandalizing every one".

Responding to this statement Jethmalani said, "I am scandalizing only one person".

The exchanges between the senior counsel took place in the course of the hearing of a petition by Narmada Bai, mother of Tulsiram Prajapsti, seeking a CBI investigation into the allegedly staged killing of her sonand transfer of trial to Mumbai.

Prajapati was allegedly the third person passenger who was taken off the bus on Nov 23, 2005 along with Sohrabuddin and Kausar Bi while they were traveling from Hyderabad to Sangali.

Sohrabuddin was subsequently killed on Nov 26, 2005 and his death said to have occurred in the course of a gunfight. Kausar Bi was also murdered after a couple of days while Prajapati was said to have been killed in a another gunfight Dec 27, 2006.
