New Delhi: An anonymous telephone call warning that a bomb had been planted at the Cochin International Airport turned out to be a hoax, police said.
Following the call received on Monday at the fire station in Ernakulam, the bomb detection and disposal team and dog squad of the airport were on red alert as they checked the domestic and International Terminals, domestic and international cargo terminals and airlines offices and buildings. However, no explosives were found, the sources said.
The police have managed to identify the caller and action is being initiated against him as per the IPC and Indian Aircraft Rules, it has been reported.
A meeting of the Bomb Threat Review Committee that followed the incident concluded with the decision to enhance security measures at
the airport.
