“Congratulations Narendra Modi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India,” Musk said in his post on X.
US President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron were among dozens of world leaders who congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday on the victory of the BJP-led NDA coalition in the general elections and expressed their desire to work closely with him.
Along with world leaders, business chambers and trader bodies also extended greetings to PM Modi. The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and the US-India Business Council (USIBC) also congratulated Narendra Modi as NDA secured a majority in the polls and staked claim to form the government.
“The US-India Business Council (USIBC) congratulates all Indians on the successful completion of the Lok Sabha elections and congratulates Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their expanded mandate,” Atul Keshap, the USIBC president and CEO, said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We look forward to working with the prime minister, his Cabinet, and all of India’s elected leaders to continue to expand trade and investment between India and the US, helping Indians to achieve their aspirations for greater prosperity and development,” he said.
SICCI said it was confident that India-Singapore relations will continue to grow under the new government.
The results of the polls reflect the citizens’ vote of confidence in the programmes and policies of the Modi government, SICCI said on Wednesday evening.
“They eagerly anticipate the further consolidation and continuity of these policies at home and abroad,” the chamber said.
SICCI is upbeat and confident that these relations between India and Singapore will soar to even greater heights in the years ahead under the leadership of Singapore’s new and fourth prime minister, Lawrence Wong, and the new government of India to be formed under the leadership of Modi, it said.
