No Fine For Riding Bikes Wearing Slippers: Ministry Of Road Transport And Highways
The ministry clarified that there would be no fine for wearing a half-sleeved shirt, a lungi and a vest, carrying an extra bulb in the vehicle.

Wearing slippers while riding a bike or driving a car could lead to a fine. Similarly, wearing a half-sleeved shirt while riding a motorcycle could also lead to problems. You may have heard many such laws. In 2019, some amendments were made to the Motor Vehicle Act leading to various claims about fines that are circulating among the people.

When these claims were widely shared in 2019, the office of Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, started to address the claims. His office reportedly dismissed all these claims tagging them as fake. The ministry also requested the people to be cautious of such misleading rumours.

The statement clarified that there would be no fine for wearing a half-sleeved shirt, a lungi and a vest, carrying an extra bulb in the vehicle, having a dirty windshield, or driving while wearing slippers. The ministry further mentioned that there is no such provision for the above-mentioned things in the Motor Vehicle Act.

If you drive with appropriate clothing and other wearables, the risk of accidents significantly decreases. Wearing a lungi or slippers while riding a bike can cause issues with gear shifting. Not being able to shift gears at the correct time can lead to serious accidents which can be fatal. It is advised to ride two-wheelers wearing shoes as it provides a good grip on the brakes and gears. Similarly, wearing a half-sleeved shirt while riding can result in severe injuries to the arms in case of a fall or accident.

Wearing a full-sleeved shirt can save your arms from getting seriously injured. Although these may seem like minor issues, they can prove to be significant during an accident. However, not wearing a helmet is a legal offence and can lead to fines as it can result in fatal injuries if the person meets with an accident.
