Doctors often advise pregnant people to be cautious every time. They are always told to stay safe and especially be careful when they are using stairs. But when life is at stake people can do anything. Imagine the house you are living in catches fire one day. A similar incident happened to a woman a few weeks back. A sudden fire broke out in her house and all the escape routes were blocked. Despite being eight months pregnant, the woman decided to jump from the second floor of her house to save her life. What happened next may amaze you.
According to a report by the New York Post, 26-year-old Rachel Standfest from Michigan, United States, shared the story of her recent experience on her Instagram Handle. Rachel was 36 months pregnant when the fire broke out at her house. She was with her husband Travis on the second floor of her house when she first saw smoke coming out. Travis was sleeping then and Rachel in the first instance didn’t take it seriously. As the smoke became dense she panicked and went to check the smoke. Rachel said, “I went towards the stairs to see. The stairs were filled with dense smoke. I ran back and woke up Travis. I called my mother as I was trembling with fear. I thought I would die today.”
Talking about her experience, Rachel said, “To get me out Travis broke the window screen of the second floor. I tried to get down carefully but there was no way as the fire was spreading. The height was around 20 feet. I couldn’t think of anything else so I jumped.” Rachel suffered a head injury and burn injuries. Travis on the other hand decided to run through the stairs and get out as he thought that it would be faster. According to reports he also suffered burn injuries. The couple was immediately taken to hospital. After reaching the hospital the doctors immediately conducted an emergency cesarean section to deliver the baby. As per Rachel’s post, the couple and the baby are safe and they are all set to start their new journey.
