Pani puri is unquestionably one of the most popular street snacks in India. All foodies enjoy standing by the roadside and chomping on crispy puris loaded with spicy pani in a single bite. The famous Indian street snack has now gone global. It has made its way into the popular reality show MasterChef Australia Season 16. Sumeet Saigal, an Indian-origin participant on the cooking reality show, has wowed the judges with her unique take on this delectable dish.

In the latest promo for the reality show, Sumeet Saigal shows the judges how to eat pani puris. She first suggests they break the puris, fill them with spiced potato, garnish with mint coriander chutney and date-tamarind chutney, and then pour in the refreshing tangy water. When the judges eat a pani puri, they take a second to feel the burst of flavours in their mouth. The video concludes with the judges cheering for Sumeet. Along with the video on Instagram, the official handle of the show wrote, “Pani puri lesson from the master!” Reportedly, Sumeet Saigal had resigned from her sales management job to pursue her goal of becoming a chef.

Sumeet Saigal also shared a few pictures from the show, giving a closer look at the recipe and wrote, “If Indian Street Food and Chaat was a kingdom, Pani Puri would be the ever-reigning Monarch! It is the flag-bearer of Indian Street food! It is where you start (and most likely finish!!)” She further added watching the judges enjoy the explosion of flavours is pure joy and she was honoured and overjoyed that they tried it and loved it. She added that her memory of loving pani puri goes back to her school days, when she missed the bus, called home to ask my mother to pick me up, and went to this run-down chaat store in Bangalore to eat Pani Puris by the dozen.

Online users were amazed to see the popular Indian snack being served to acclaimed chefs. A user joked, “Shouldn’t Golgappa be illegal in cooking shows? Like how are you supposed to compete with it?”

While another user pointed out, “Anybody anywhere in the world reacts to pani puri in the exact same manner every single time they pop one into their mouth! And the best thing is you can’t stop with one.” An individual simply stated, “Wow finally pani puri to a world class level.”
