The Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test (HP SET) exam date has been postponed by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). As per the official notification, the HP SET 2023 exam was scheduled to be conducted on March 17, 2024. However, it has now been deferred and the revised schedule for the said examination will be released by the exam authority in due course of time on the official Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission’s website athppsc.hp.gov.in.
The official notification by the commission reads, “Apropos this Commission’s notice dated 20.01.2024, whereby a tentative schedule for the conduct of Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test- 2023 was issued for March 17, 2024. It is for the information of all concerned that the said SET 2023 has been postponed. The next date of said examination will be notified in due course of time,” reads the notification.
The Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test will comprise two papers that will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions in two separate sessions. There will be a total of 50 questions worth 100 marks.
HP SET 2023: Eligibility criteria
1. Candidates from the unreserved (UR), economically weaker section (EWS) category who are willing to apply for the HP SET exam must have completed a master’s degree in humanities, social sciences, and computer science with a minimum of 55 per cent marks.
2. Those candidates who are residents of Himachal Pradesh and fall under the scheduled caste (SC), scheduled tribe (ST), persons with disabilities (PwD), and other backward classes (OBC) categories are eligible for the examination if they have secured at least 50 per cent marks.
3. However, applicants holding a PhD degree under the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations of 2009 will be exempted from this specific regulation.
It is further to be noted that the HP SET 2023 will be held for 24 subjects. This is the qualifying examination conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission to select candidates who wish to be employed as Assistant Professors at Universities/Institutions/ colleges located in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
HP SET 2023: Selection Process
Talking about the selection process, candidates will be determined by the eligibility criteria established by the respective university or institute for the Assistant Professor posts. This candidate will then be selected on the basis of scores in a written examination, followed by an interview round, an evaluation of qualifications and work experience, and a teaching demonstration.
