A Swiggy delivery agent allegedly attempted to scam a customer by requesting him to transfer Rs 5,000, claiming it was for his pregnant wife’s C-section. The incident occurred in Gurugram. The customer shared his experience on Reddit, describing how the delivery agent, visibly upset, begged for money, promising to return it after receiving his salary. The customer narrated, “Receiving my lunch today, I was greeted by my Swiggy driver sobbing and sweating. As soon as I opened the door, he started begging, telling me his pregnant wife was in the hospital and he needed 5000 rupees for the operation which he will return after he gets his salary the day after tomorrow.”

The customer further explained that the delivery agent insisted on receiving the money immediately and even tried to hand over his bike key as collateral. Sensing something was amiss, the customer asked for a phone number instead. The delivery agent also insisted on payment through a specific QR code, which raised the customer’s suspicions.

After taking a picture of the QR code and refusing to give money immediately, the customer heard an aggressive knock on his door a few minutes later. Despite not opening the door, the delivery agent entered the house, came to the customer’s room, and continued to demand payment loudly.

“When I refused to open, he started screaming “Sir dena hai toh do, jhootha bharosa mat dilao” and wailing loudly,” the customer shared.

He further informed that he had to threaten to call security, after which the delivery agent finally left. The customer reported the incident to Swiggy, and the platform assured him that appropriate action would be taken.

The incident has generated various reactions from Reddit users, with many expressing concern over the delivery agent’s behavior. A user commented, “Entering the house (whether locked or not is another thing) without permission is indeed concerning. Anyone doing so doesn’t have the fear of the law, that’s for sure.”

Sharing a similar experience, another reader said “Happened to me when I was in Lucknow, the delivery guy started telling me sob stories and said that if I gave him some money that would help. I told him ok, I would add some tips but he insisted that I pay him through some QR code only, which sounded very fishy to me. At this moment I decided to not engage him any further.”
