New Delhi: Microsoft has claimed that its newest Windows 10 operating system offers robust security; one that is so strong that even your doppelganger might not be able to break in the facial recognition tool - Microsoft Hello.

In an informal test conducted by The Australian, it was discovered that Windows 10 couldn’t be tricked using sets of identical twins to sign in the device in one instance.

Six sets of identical twins were part of the experiment and in each case, the procedure was the same. One of the twins would register for the face recognition and set up the account and the other would test it the next time to log into the device.

It was found that Hello was able to distinguish between the identical twins and had problems logging in the one who was not registered. It failed only in one case when it was able to identify the youngest twins Abby and Libby Sukkel, for others it showed errors.

While the test is evidently limited with a small sample of people, and used Lenovo Yoga 3 14 that comes with a sophisticated depth-sensing camera, there is a possibility that it could be exploited on other host PCs which do not have high-end cameras.

Nonetheless, it does suggest that it won’t be easy for your lookalike - twin or imposter - to break into your laptop when you are not around.

What's your reaction?
