Hyderabad: Telangana state Congress on Friday dubbed the first half of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi-led government in the state as "disappointing" and alleged it failed to fulfil even a single promise made to the people during 2014 elections.
"Congress party granted statehood for Telangana to fulfil people's aspirations and to bring prosperity. However, with its mis-administration and mis-governance, the TRS government has pushed Telangana backwards by many decades. No section of the society is happy with the performance of TRS government," alleged Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy during a press briefing here.
He added, "The TRS government failed to fulfil even a single promise that it made to people during the 2014 elections."
Reddy slammed the state government for not clearing dues of crop loan waiver scheme, students' fees reimbursement, Indiramma housing and other welfare schemes.
He alleged that instead of constructing homes for weaker sections houses, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao constructed a palatial bungalow of one lakh square feet for himself on nine acres of land.
"The Chief Minister should clarify whether construction of new residence was so essential. He is leading a lavish lifestyle and using public money for the same," Reddy said.
Accusing the TRS government of failing to address the problems of farmers, he said the state government kept 40 lakh farmer families "tied to their debts".
"The number of suicides reported in Telangana during TRS rule is highest since Independence," the Congress leader said.
Reddy said the birthday of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on December 9 will be celebrated across the state as 'Telangana Thanksgiving Day' as it also coincides with the announcement of statehood for Telangana.
He said the Congress party would organise a massive sit-in at Indira Park on December 20 to highlight "failures" of the TRS government.
