New Delhi: Launching a broadside against Congress on the issue of corruption, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday insisted that the government constitute a JPC to probe the controversial allocation of 2G spectrum.

"If the Prime minister is ready to face PAC, then what is the problem in a JPC probe," he said, maintaining that the government should not decide on who should conduct the inquiry in such a case and should go by the opposition's demand.

He said like PAC, the JPC would also have representatives from the Congress. Therefore, there should be no problem in agreeing to the demands of the opposition.

"PAC has its limitations as it is a Parliamentary Committee which will work on the basis of the CAG report. JPC has wider powers," Gadkari told reporters here.

Referring to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's assertion that the party would go all out against corruption, the BJP President said, "Congress can't stop scams and Sonia Gandhi talks like the opposition about taking steps to check

corruption. If it is their government, why did corruption take place in the first place. She should reply and take action."

On the NDA's proposed rally against corruption on Wednesday, Gadkari said a massive amount is involved in scams during the UPA 2 regime as compared to scams that have taken place in the past.

"This is for the first time in the history of India since 1947 that such large-scale scams have taken place," he said.

On the rising prices of onion, the BJP chief said that it was result of bad governance and wrong economic policies being followed by the present government.
