SEVENTEEN's Hoshi Fights For Fan Rights After University Restricts Bathroom Access
While the university hasn’t made any official comment, SEVENTEEN member Hoshi is raising his voice against the bathroom rule and supporting the attendees.

As summer arrives in South Korea, universities are gearing up for their annual festivals, which attract large crowds. In a festive atmosphere, Hanyang University has been criticized for imposing severe regulations on festival attendees. Imagine the surprise when fans who had arrived early to claim perfect seats were told by the staff that there would be no toilet breaks after 7:30 AM and action would be taken against those found violating the rules.

The matter escalated when reports indicated that even women who were menstruating were not relieved from these restrictions.

This decision caused controversy, while the university hasn’t made any official comment, Seventeen member Hoshi is raising his voice against the rule and supporting the attendees.

One individual, who had been waiting in line since late at night, shared their shock upon staff informed that festival attendees wouldn’t be allowed to use the bathroom after a certain time. Although the staff didn’t physically prevent anyone from going to the restroom, the user stated that those who did go after the designated time were asked to rejoin the queue from back. As the issue escalated, Hoshi spoke out against the bathroom restrictions on Weverse, stating, “You should drink a lot of water. We all need to go to the bathroom.”

Taking their frustration on social media platforms, many argued that these policies not only violate basic human rights but also show that the university lacks kindness. What was even more surprising was that they were selling tickets for 10,000 KRW (approximately Rs 650) to outsiders. Many questioned Hanyang University’s intentions and criticized their treatment of the attendees. As of now, the University has not yet stated in response to the backlash.

Surprisingly, the university not only imposed restrictions on bathroom breaks but also placed bans on nearly everything except mobile phones. According to Korea Boo, the restricted items include all food and drink, any items that obstruct the view (such as umbrellas and light sticks), anything that could disrupt the performance (like whistles, tents and folding chairs), all disposable items, selfie sticks, dangerous items and high heels. Reportedly, any other items that the staff believe are unsafe will also be taken away. If anyone is found with a prohibited item after entering, they will be asked to leave the venue.

Meanwhile, during the Day 2 of the festival at Hanyang University, CRAVITY, Choi Yena and BSS, delighted fans with their energetic performances.
