Navratri is one of the most prominent festivals in the Hindu faith and is celebrated 4 times a year. The first Navratri of the year is Chaitra Navratri, followed by Sharadiya Navratri. It is then followed by two Gupt Navratris. This year, Chaitra Navratri starts on April 9 and concludes on April 17, spanning 9 days. Devotees worship Maa Durga and her nine divine forms during Chaitra Navratri. On the last day, Ram Navami is celebrated. It marks the birth of Lord Ram. During Chaitra Navratri, it is very important to follow some rules prescribed by astrology, failure to abide by which can lead one to suffer, loss and distress.
Pandit Kalki Ram, an astrologer in Ayodhya, reports that this year’s Chaitra Navratri will begin on April 9, which is Pratipada day of Shukla Paksha of the Chaitra month. During Navratri, people go to great lengths to appease Goddess Jagadamba and to achieve happiness and wealth in life.
Certain purchases, specifically, should be avoided during Navratri. Buying rice during the nine days of Navratri, for instance, is not regarded as auspicious. It is said that buying rice destroys the virtues received during Navratri. Purchasing any electronics is prohibited; purchasing black clothing is advised to be avoided. Buying black clothes is considered inauspicious, nor should one wear black clothes. It is said that wearing black clothes can cause you to fail in whatever endeavour you are engaged in at the moment. According to astrological calculations, buying any kind of electronic item for nine days of Chaitra Navratri is considered inauspicious. It is believed that when one buys electronics during these nine days, the planets in the horoscope get affected and one has to suffer from planetary defects.
One should avoid purchasing products made of iron during Navratri. It is said that buying iron during Navratri causes a financial crisis.
