Israel car blast: Qazmi's family suspects frame-up
Mohammed Syed Qazmi's son claims that his father is a celebrated journalist and not a terror suspect.

New Delhi: The police say that they have evidence in the Israel car bomb blast probe in the capital that journalist Mohammed Syed Qazmi was conspiring with the bombers but his family maintains that he is innocent and is being framed.

Qazmi's son claims that his father is a celebrated journalist and not a terror suspect.

For over two decades, Qazmi has worked with the country's top newsmakers. Today, he himself is the headline. The 50-year-old is under arrest for alleged conspiracy in the Israel embassy car blast case. Qazmi’s son may skip his class 12 board exam to support him.

"I am thinking whether or not to sit for the board exam or not," Qazmi’s son said. But the police claim there's irrefutable evidence.

Police sources say a scooty left behind by those who executed the attack was seized from Qazmi's residence. Qazmi’s family says the scooty has been there for two years.

Police sources say Qazmi travelled to middle-east post the attack, his family says he went to Syria as part of a media delegation.

Qazmi has worked for the Doordarshan and All India Radio, he covered the 2003 Iraq war for the BBC and Tehran radio.

The first suspect caught in the February 13 blast case has a rather unusual profile. A war journalist with over 25 years experience. While the police claim to have concrete evidence, the family says that Qazmi has been made a scapegoat. The real picture it seems will only emerge with time.
