Sanjay Dutt quashed rumours regarding him contesting this year's Lok Sabha elections.

Speculation was rampant that Sanjay Dutt might venture into the political fray by contesting in the forthcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Haryana. Nonetheless, the star addressed these speculations head-on through his X (formerly Twitter) account, emphatically denying any such plans. In his clarification, Dutt mentioned that he would personally make any political aspirations public should he choose to pursue them. It’s noteworthy that Sanjay Dutt hails from an influential political background, with his father, Sunil Dutt, having served as an MP and a minister, representing Mumbai. Sanjay Dutt’s familial roots trace back to Yamunanagar in Haryana, hinting at his deep ties with the state.

Dismissing the circulating speculation on a Monday afternoon, Sanjay Dutt stated, “I would like to put all rumours about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now.”

It’s important to note that Sanjay Dutt’s family has a storied political history, with his father having served in the Congress-led Manmohan Singh government, and his sister, Priya Dutt, also holding an MP position. There’s buzz around the Congress Party’s interest in presenting a formidable candidate against the BJP in Haryana’s Karnal constituency, propelling Sanjay Dutt’s name into the limelight. In the past, Dutt has campaigned in Haryana for INLD’s Abhay Singh Chautala, fueling speculations about his potential candidacy. Despite this, Sanjay Dutt has definitively dismissed all such speculation.
