Legend of Maula Jatt: Raj Thackeray WARNS Against Fawad Khan's Film Release, Says 'Won't Hesitate If...'
Fawad Khan's The Legend of Maula Jatt is set to release in India but not in Maharashtra.

Political leader Raj Thackeray has warned against the release of The Legend of Maula Jatt in Maharashtra. The film stars Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan in the lead, and this is the first Pakistani film to be released in the country after the ban on Pakistani artists lifted in India. However, it was recently reported that the film will only release in Mumbai. Raj Thackeray addressed the film’s release and said that leave alone Maharashtra, no other state should release the film.

“Art does not have national borders, this is all right in other cases, but in the case of Pakistan, this will not work at all. What is the beginning of bringing the country’s actors here to dance and show their films on the single issue of hatred of India? Let alone Maharashtra, the government should not allow this movie to be screened in any state of the country,” he questioned.

“Of course, what the rest of the states should do is their question. It is certain that this movie will not be released in Maharashtra,” he added.

“Everyone remembers the actions we took earlier. We do not want any conflict during the Navratri festival when this movie is slated for release, but we will not hesitate if this movie is shown in Maharashtra,” Raj Thackeray concluded the post.

Ameya Khopkar, president of the MNS Cinema Wing, also agreed with Thackeray. “This movie will not be released, and we will not allow any Pakistani actors or films in India. If cinemas dare to show the film, they will face consequences,” Ameya Khopkar told ANI.

Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer The Legend of Maula Jatt will release on October 2. For those who don’t know, The Legend of Maula Jatt was a huge success both in Pakistan and internationally, and it still holds the record as the highest-grossing Pakistani and Punjabi-language film ever. Based on Nasir Adeeb’s characters, The Legend of Maula Jatt is a modern retelling of the 1979 Pakistani classic. Starring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Humaima Malick, the film explores the intense rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Natt.
