A Virat Kohli fan who had travelled about 12,445km from the USA to Lucknow’s Ekana Sports City Stadium was in for a rude shock after star Indian batter departed for a duck against England in ICC World Cup 2023 game on Sunday. So was the case for millions of fans who had tuned in from their homes to witness his 49th ODI ton. They watched in disbelief when Kohli tried to break free like skipper Rohit Sharma by using his feet only to mistime the ball and deliver a sitter to Ben Stokes stationed at mid-off region.
David Willey silenced the thousands of attendees in Lucknow as Kohli made a long walk back to the pavilion.

Kohli had walked in to replace Shubman Gill who was cleaned up by Chris Woakes with a nip-backer. Woakes drew the India opener into a drive and the ball sneaked between the defenses to crash onto the stumps. Gill departed for a 9.
Earlier, England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and put India to bat first.
As for Kohli, the run-chase machine is amongst the leading run scorers with 354 runs in his kitty. The 34-year-old Indian cricketer has hit 3 fifties and 1 ton in the ICC World Cup 2023 tournament so far.
