New Delhi: A design meet was held in the capital where young minds displayed their vision on 'My Dream India' through creative artworks. Students from various colleges participated in the event wherein they showcased some amazing artworks, canvases and digital artworks.
In an exclusive interaction with IBNLive.com, the director of the Desizn Circle Manish Tripathi revealed his idea of ‘My Dream India’ and his views about creativity playing a pivotal role in building a dream nation. Here's an excerpt from the interview.
What made you come up with the idea of 'DESIZN CONCLAVE' with the specific theme 'My Dream India'?
Desizn Conclave was an initiative taken to encourage the young creative juveniles by showcasing their work to the world. The children were given a glimpse of professionalism and competence that they aspire to be a part of in the future. The professional settings of the exhibition were meant to induce confidence and coolness among the children regarding their work and their thought process. India, today needs these children and their assistance to progress and develop. So it was very important to know what these juveniles think about their dream India and this is the reason the specific theme ‘My Dream India’ was chosen.
What is your idea of 'My Dream India'? And how far do you think we've reached in making India a dream nation?
I desire to make my country the most idyllic and perfect in the world. I dream of making it a wealthier, happier and healthier place to live in and want to see its progress in all fields of life. I want every citizen to have an access of basic human rights. I want every resident to have a content life. This is my idea about ‘My Dream India.’ However, the nation is way too far from it. There are lacks of people without a roof going to bed hungry. There are thousands of people deprived of education. The journey towards the perfect nation will not be a bed of roses for sure, but only a bit of hard work and a resolve is needed to fulfill the dreams for our India.
Did your perceptions about 'My Dream India’ change after visualizing the inspiring artworks?
Each individual had a very different and variant idea about the India they dream of. I can’t say that my perception about ‘My Dream India’ changed, but yes, it modified. I always thought about the future full of highways, urbanized regions and a lot of modernization. However, the juveniles had a diverse approach. According to them the amalgamation of India’s heritage and its idyllic future is the flawless and seamless India of their dreams.
What role does creativity, particularly artwork play in building a dream nation?
Today a lot of people want to move out of the nation rather mending and revamping the flaws. If everyone is going to move out, our nation will stay the same for another hundred years. India needs people. India needs its youth. These artworks just didn’t showcase the creativity but also helped in stimulating a sense of responsibility and duty in the viewer’s heart towards their nation. Therefore, these artworks played a very vital role in building a dream nation.
What aspects of Indian culture have been focused on in your installations, artworks, digital posters and canvases?
India is known for its diversified culture. Each individual has its own perception and belief when it comes to the depiction of cultures as each of them has its own different upbringing. There was no particular culture that has been focused in the installations, but amalgamation of several were shown together in each of them whether it be through the colours or the motifs.
Any message that you would like to give out to the budding artists? What advice would you want to give to the people with creative aspirations?
I’d like to tell our budding artists that when it comes to imagination and creativity, age is not a barrier anywhere. If they have a vision, they should not lock it up in a suitcase; in fact, should flaunt it to the world. However, one can’t rise all alone. Everyone needs a team to achieve a certain success, therefore teamwork is the most essential and indispensable part. There may be a lot of failures as well, but one should never lose hope and keep believing in their creations. The richest people in the world are artists, whether they are actors, designers or writers. Therefore, creativity does pay your bills, and if you work with a plan, it is going to pay your bills lavishly.
