One of the major causes of diseases and illnesses is contaminated water. Many water-borne diseases can affect the health of the body. Contaminated water, especially during the monsoon season, can lead to cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, typhoid, and more. All around the world, thousands of people die due to the consumption of contaminated water. This is why most households are advised to use RO water for their consumption. However, if someone doesn’t have RO at their home, they can still remove the impurities and drink pure water. Here are some tips to purify water:
Drink Water After Boiling:
It has been found that bacterial growth is highest during the rainy season. To purify water, one should always boil it before consuming it. By doing this, the water becomes germ-free and drinkable. To boil it, the water should be kept in a clean vessel and boiled for 2 minutes. If someone is at a higher altitude, then they are advised to boil it for a little over 2 minutes.
Using UV Rays to Purify Water:
Ultraviolet treatment can also be used to purify polluted water during the rainy season. UV rays can damage the DNA of harmful germs. This helps in disinfecting the water from harmful bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms. Apart from that, adding lemon juice to it can speed up the process.
Using Apple and Tomato Peels:
Tomato and apple peels are also an effective way to purify water. To do so, soak apple and tomato peels in alcohol for about two hours. Then, take them out and dry them well in the sun. After this, put these peels in contaminated water. After a few hours, remove the peels from the water. After this, you can filter the water and drink it.
Chlorine Tablets:
Another way of purifying water is to use chlorine tablets. This can be done by adding chlorine tablets to the contaminated water. Add chlorine tablets to the water, but it is important to note that the water should not be used for the next 30 minutes. It will be visible that the water will be completely cleaned and can be used for drinking.
