BANGALORE: Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Jagadish Singh Khehar has been elevated to the Supreme Court.Justice Vikramajit Sen from the Delhi High Court is slated to replace Justice Khehar as Karnataka High Court Chief Justice.Justice Khehar’s name was cleared in a recent meeting of the Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India S H Kapadia in the national capital.As per convention, every state is represented by at least one judge at a given point in time.Justice Khehar will represent Punjab.On September 12, the High Court will witness the swearing- in ceremony of Justice Sen and the farewell of outgoing Chief Justice Khehar.Justice Khehar’s swearingin ceremony as an Apex Court judge is scheduled to be held on September 13 at Delhi.Apart from Justice Khehar, the Apex Court collegium had also cleared the names of Justice Ranjana Desai from Delhi High Court and Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court S J Mukhopadhaya in August.Born on December 31, 1950, Justice Sen has practiced in all courts in Delhi.He has handled civil, arbitration and commercial disputes with a special interest in minority rights.He was appointed as Additional Judge of Delhi HC on July 7, 1999, and a permanent judge on October 30, 2000
