Sohrabuddin fake killing: Ex-cop blames CID officials
Officer alleges CID officials failed to place his interim report before the SC.

New Delhi: A former investigating officer has broken his silence implicating top Gujarat CID officials of stalling the investigation in the Ujjain resident Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Retired police officer VL Solanki alleges that top CID officials failed to place his interim report before the Supreme Court, a report claims to have have submitted to them six times.

Solanki also claims he had repeatedly asked for permission to question Tulsi Prajapati, a key witness to Sohrabuddin Sheikh's fake encounter.

Solanki alleges Prajapati, too, was killed in a staged encounter because top CID officials were afraid that he would testify against them.

"I had submitted six interim reports to my senior officials. Now it is up to them how they take the case further. I had put forward a request to interrogate Tulsi Prajapati who was in Udaipur jail then. It was denied," Solanki said while speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN's sister channel IBN7.

Solanki's revelation comes just a few days after the Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s police.

Gujarat Government had August 11, 2009, told the Supreme Court that it had decided to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation to the family of Sheikh, who was killed along with his wife Kausar Bi by a Gujarat police team in a staged shootout in November 2005.
