Hilversum: Shiv Kapur maintained his steady form with a three-under 67 that gave him a clubhouse lead in the middle of the second round, even as half the field had yet to complete their second round in the KLM Open in the Netherlands on Friday.
Kapur, who desperately needs a good finish to make his progress towards retaining his card for 2012 easier, shot 67 to go with his first-round 66 to move to seven-under 133.
Among others to finish were James Kingston (68) and Gary Orr (66).
Kapur's 67 included four birdies against one bogey.
Kapur, currently 113th on the Money List, played 32 holes on Friday, completed his best start of the season with a 66 and then added a 67. He had played only four holes on Thursday. He was third after the first round.
In the second round, Rory McIlroy, 73rd after the first round, made a big jump with a 65 that took him to five-under, while Lee Westwood, who had a 70 in first round, also moved up with a 66. He was four-under.
Kapur was the best among four Indians in the field.
The other three Indians, Jeev Milkha Singh, SSP Chowrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar, all shot an identical 71 and were lying tied 73rd, and needed a steady second round to make the cut.
The top-65 and ties make the cut.
Earlier in first round, Kapur opened with a birdie on the first, had four other birdies and just one bogey on fourth. After that, he was one shot behind joint leaders, Simon Dyson and Marcel Siem, who had five-under 65 each.
His other birdies came on eighth, 12th, 13th and 18th. Kapur was one of the five players at four-under 66. Chowrasia had three bogeys and two birdies, all on back nine.
Bhullar also had three bogeys and two birdies, while Jeev three birdies, including one on the 18th, and four bogeys, three of them on front nine.
