Samsung Galaxy Note, SII to receive Android 4
The Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II will be the first two devices to receive the upgrade.

New Delhi: Now here is good news for those who have been waiting for Andorid 4, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich(ICS) on their Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Samsung’s Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets will receive an upgrade to Android 4 in the first quarter of 2012.

The latest post on the Facebook page of Samsung Mobile reads, "We know you have been waiting and we're thrilled today to announce that we'll start serving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II in the first quarter of 2012."

The Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S II will be the first two devices to receive the upgrade. However, other devices will soon follow. Other ICS-upgradable Galaxy devices include Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, said the company in the post.

The company will give out separate announcements for each device on details of the OS update.

Recently, HTC announced that Ice Cream Sandwich is coming to some of their smartphones in early 2012. Besides, Motorola's Droid Razr will also receive the latest version of Android in early 2012.
