Duo try to rob pilots on running loco

CHENNAI: In an attempted daylight robbery, two strangers entered a moving loco wielding swords at Vyasarpadi Jiva Railway Station on Thursday evening, trying to rob the loco pilots.Sources said, the loco of a goods train was moving towards Tiruvottiyur from Arakkonam Loco Shed.When it was crossing Vyasarpadi Jiva Station at caution speed around 5.30 pm, two thieves boarded the loco, scaring the crew with swords.They demanded that the pilots give them their gold chains and mobile phones.“The drivers offered to give up the items.However, the loco running staff overpowered the strangers, taking possession of the swords,” a railway source added. Caught unawares, the thieves jumped out and fled the spot. Later, the issue was reported to the Railway Protection Force, who are investigating.
