WARANGAL:   Deputy inspector general of police DS Chauhan has ordered an inquiry against Kazipet DSP Venkatram Narsaiah, who allegedly threatened to kill the students in an encounter for attacking minister P Lakshmaiah’s house in Warangal recently.Additional SP Sarvasreshta Tripathi has been asked to investigate the allegations levelled against the DSP by students and pro-Telangana activists, who claimed that the police officer tortured them after arresting them for attacking  Lakshmaiah’s house.Students and pro-Telangana activists condemned the high-handedness of Venkatram Narsaiah and demanded his removal from the post. Tension prevailed at Hanamkonda when students along with pro-Telangana activists and advocates lay siege to the DIG office at Subedari on Friday. Nearly 200 agitators tried to enter the DIG office but were obstructed by the police. Students raised slogans demanding suspension of the DSP and later submitted a representation to the DIG.While the DIG ordered a probe into the incident, the advocates are also planning to file a private case against the DSP. Warangal District Bar Association president R Amarender Reddy told Express that he would take the statements of the  students before the magistrate in the court against the DSP and file a case based on it. He said students have not ransacked the minister’s house but only staged a protest.
