HYDERABAD: The Citizen Service Centres (CSCs) of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation are likely to be handed over to private parties.The CSCs are providing about 59 services like payment of property tax, renewal of trade licence, issuing birth and death certificates, building permissions and permits for temporary use of parks and community halls. The CSCs were established with an objective to provide services in an efficient manner to ensure accountability, transparency and responsiveness to citizens. Recently, the GHMC, however, invited tenders from eligible agencies for request proposal for operation and maintenance of service centres on Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis for a period of five years. Speaking to Express, GHMC officials said the decision to invite RFP from private agencies was taken to make sure citizens get all services of GHMC in the indicated time periods. The agencies would have to strictly enforce the Citizens' Charter in respect of quality, efficiency and responsiveness during delivery of services.Payments to service provider for services delivered will be directly linked to quality of service delivered, officials added.CSCs will also record general grievances like sanitation, street lighting, encroachments, unauthorised constructions, road repairs, storm water drains, dog menace, mosquito menace, water stagnation and other matters for speedy redressal. GHMC will fix the transaction for the new services after the selection of a firm.
