THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Plantation workers in the state, cutting across trade union  affiliations, are planning to launch an indefinite strike from January 2, as the Plantation Labour Committee (PLC) which met here on Tuesday on the issue of revision of minimum wages and other benefits failed to arrive at an agreement. The PLC met on the issue for the 13th time, but barring wages, managements and TUs continued to differ on the benefits component which has to be sanctioned for workers. The entire labourers of rubber, tea, cardamom and coffee plantations in the state will take the path of agitation, according to the decision of a meeting of the Federation of various TUs held after the PLC meet, under the presidentship of P K Gopalan (INTUC). TU leaders K V George Karimattam, Cyriac Thomas, Thomas Kalladan (all representing INTUC), P Lalaji Babu, P S Rajan, C K Unnikrishnan (CITU), H Rajeevan, M V Ouseph, P K Moorthy (AITUC), P R Suresh (BMS), P P A Kareem (STU), Joseph Mathew and K K Neelambaran (UTUC) attended the meet.
