BANGALORE : The issue on constructing quarters for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) at Ejipura was brought again at the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council on Wednesday.JD(S) leader Padmanabha Reddy questioned the council’s approval to construct houses at Ejipura by Maverick Holdings. He said that of the 15 acres in Ejipura, 1,640 houses will be built in eight acres, while seven acres will be utilised for construction of complex. “We are not against constructing houses for poor. When there are funds from JnNurm, why can’t we construct houses from BBMP side rather than handing it over to Maverick,” he said.Referring to the State government approval on the same, Reddy said “You can send the matter for re-inspection as it is your government.” MLA Haris demanded the construction work to start as soon as possible. “Atleast, it should be ready by next monsoon,” he said.However, the council approved it even as the JD(S) raised slogans.
