TIRUVANNAMALAI: A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his son, because he had spoken to his estranged mother.Santhakumar (40) and Vijayalakshmi (37) had been married for 19 years and had a son Krishnan and daughter Yoganandhini. Two months ago, Vijayalakshmi left their house at Punalkadu village and went to her parents’ house following marital unrest. The children stayed with the father. Three days ago, Vijayalakshmi returned to the village to see her children and spent some time with her son, Krishnan. Santhakumar found it out and was angered by his son’s act of defiance.He allegedly began to thrash Krishnan using a wooden club and dealt him severe blows. Krishnan was treated at the Tiruvannamalai Government Hospital and his mother placed a complaint against her husband, who was then duly charged and arrested.
