Linganamkki dam level on the rise

SHIMOGA: With rains pounding higher areas of Sharavathi catchment area, water level of the Linganamkki dam at Jog is increasing steadily.The 1819 feet dam has touched 1808 feet with huge inflow today. Authorities have warned people living in low level areas of Sharavathi River that they might release water from dam at any moment and advised them to move to safer places.Due to good rains and outflow from the dam, the famous Jog falls has been attracting huge crowds. Holiday rush has become "virtually uncontrollable", authorities said.Visitors from far-off places are making a beeline to enjoy the natural beauty of the falls. Authorities believe the number of visitors may swell during festival vacation starting this week.
