Public prosecutor Dilip Shah had complained of receiving threat calls from D-company.

Mumbai: The Haseena Parkar case will now have a new public prosecutor after the current officer in-charge Dilip Shah was asked to step down.

Last week, Shah – who was involved with the case of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister - had complained of receiving threat calls from D-company.

But there is more to his removal than what meets the eye. Sources say Shah's removal is the result of infighting within the office of public prosecutor.

“Chief public prosecutor told me not to come for the next hearing. I wanted to but was stopped,” he said.

But now that he is finally off the case, Shah is not happy.

"I would like to be in the case, but I have to honour my seniors' decision,” he says.

While the case still continues to be fought within the court of law, the infighting between the prosecuting lawyers is likely to benefit Parkar, a chance that the prosecutor's office might not want to take.

What's your reaction?
