BANGALORE: Even as factions led by former CM B S Yeddyurappa and state BJP president K S Eshwarappa are fighting on who should lead the campaign for the September 26 Koppal bypoll, the BJP national leadership has asked the state leaders to face the election in a collective leadership.BJP national president Nitin Gadkari who summoned Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and Yeddyurappa to Nagpur on Tuesday has asked them to face the election in a collective leadership and warned the state leaders not to pose any fresh problem as it would hurt party’s prospects in the bypoll. “The party is already facing problems in Karnataka and questions are being raised on the government’s credibility following the arrest of former ministers Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, Janardhana Reddy and several litigations against Yeddyurappa. Forget your differences and face the election,” Gadkari is said to have told the two.Eshwarappa was also supposed to go to Nagpur today, but he did not go as he was suffering from high fever.During the meeting, Gadkari was apprised of the recent developments in the state BJP unit, including the arrest of former minister Janardhana Reddy by the CBI and the resignation of former health minister B Sriramulu.Gadkari said to have told Gowda to persuade Sriramulu to revoke his resignation  considering his and the Bellary Reddys’ contribution to the party.  After arriving here, the CM said that he had apprised Gadkari of the developments in the state BJP and had offered suggestions to state leaders, which he refused to divulge.
