PUDUCHERRY: A Human Rights Committee headed by Justice J A K Sampathkumar, former Judge of the Madras High Court, heard complaints from members of the public on violations of Supreme Court guidelines during arrests.The panel, on Monday, heard 17 of the 35 complaints received so far and disposed of two cases.The committee will hold a sitting in Mahe on September 12, followed by sittings in Yanam and Karaikal shortly.The Supreme Court has laid down specific guidelines required to be followed while making arrests after the famous D K Basu vs State of West Bengal case.
