Cochin International Airport Limited(CIAL) has announced that its newly built canopy for passengers is ready for use.
The passengers can alight under the vast canopy before boarding a flight or taking a vehicle after the journey.
The facility, according to the press note, will be inaugurated by the Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise, K Babu, who is also a Director of CIAL, on October 22.
The construction work of the canopy which commenced last November was estimated at a cost of around Rs 6 crores, covering an area of 52,800 sq feet with four lane tarred road running through the covered area. Vehicles can stop inside the canopy and passengers can alight or board the vehicles without getting wet.
On either sides of the road, there are tiled walkways. Three covered links - 6 metres wide and 35 metres
long -connect the canopy with the departure/arrival areas of the international terminal.
