The identified bodies of six crew members, who died in the August 14 INS Sindhurakshak submarine disaster, will be flown to their respective hometowns from in Mumbai on Saturday for last rites, naval officials said.
"Arrangements have been made to take the bodies to their respective places, where last rites will be performed with full military honour," a Navy official said.
Since the day of the catastrophe, bodies of 11 Navy personnel have been recovered, out of which six were identified, they said. The six deceased were accorded guard of honours at the INS Ashwini at Colaba in Mumbai on Friday, where wreath-laying ceremony was also held.
On August 14, there was an explosion on the Russian-made Kilo-class submarine. The diesel-electric submarine was commissioned in the Indian Navy in 1997 at a cost of around Rs 400 crore and had gone through a Rs 450 crore extensive upgrade in Russia.
