Maharashtra goes to polls on October 15.
Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday met Maharashtra Governor CV Rao and requested him to impose President Rule in the state after the ruling coalition government of Congress-Nationalist Congress Party split.
Sources told CNN-IBN that Rao was exploring options to impose President Rule in the state which goes to polls on October 15.
The Nationalist Congress Party with 62 MLAs in the 288 seat Assembly withdrew support from the Congress-led government when talks over seat sharing for upcoming elections failed.
The election has now become a four-legged race after age-old alliances of Congress-NCP and Shiv Sena-BJP parted ways on Thursday.
