BANGALORE: A fusillade of accusations directed towards former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy marked the latest tirade of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy.Continuing from where he had left two days ago, Puttaswamy on Tuesday released a set of documents containing details about Rs167 crore allegedly credited into various bank accounts of Kumaraswamy’s family members in 2006, barely months after he became the chief minister. He demanded the former CM to divulge the details of such transactions.Interestingly, these are the very documents which Tourism Minister G Janardhan Reddy had released to the media three years ago to substantiate his allegation of Kumaraswamy receiving kickbacks amounting to Rs150 crore.According to Puttaswamy, the firms BSK Trading Company and Banashankari Trading Company, run by the family members of Kumaraswamy had exported 1.50 lakh metric tonnes of iron ore during 2006 and had earned Rs 167 crore in the process.“I want Kumaraswamy to explain to the people from where did these firms get such a vast quantity of iron ore. Did his family own a mining license then?” he asked.Accusing Kumaraswamy of nepotism, favouritism and blatantly misusing power, the CM’s political secretary gave the JD(S) leader two days to come clean on these charges. “If he does not respond in two days, I will reveal how he coerced mine owners to procure iron ore for firms of his family members,” Puttaswamy threatened.He added that he would submit the documents to Lokayukta, requesting for an investigation.“I would even knock on the doors of the High Court,” he quipped.Vinod Kumar, an advocate, had filed a private complaint against Kumaraswamy before the Lokayukta, seeking a probe into the transaction of Rs 167 crore.
