BANGALORE: Invitees and relatives at an advocate’s wedding witnessed high drama after a woman, claiming to have married him, attempted to stop the wedding at the convention hall at Kodigehalli Gate in Bellary Road on Sunday. However, the wedding went off smoothly with the intervention of the Kodigehalli police. Interestingly, the advocate had served a notice to the woman sensing a possible blockade from her and had also sought police protection.Advocate K S Prabhakar, 32, a resident of Banawara, was all set to marry a girl named Poornima on Sunday morning. Ten minutes before the muhurtham, a woman, identified as Pushpalatha, a resident of T Dasarahalli, rushed into the wedding hall with activists of a women’s organisation and claimed to have known Prabhakar since their college days. She even stated that they were in love for six years. “Both Prabhakar and Pushpalatha studied together at Vivekanada Law College in Rajajinagar and the latter was his junior,” said the Kodigehalli police.Pushpaltha also claimed that she had married Prabhakar four years ago at a temple in Pandavapura near Srirangapatana. But she did not have any supporting documents to prove her claim. She had even gone to his house and discussed their wedding with his parents, the police said. Interestingly, Prabhakar had served a legal notice to Pushpalatha on Friday claiming that he had no relationship with her.Pushpaltha, who received the notice the next day, was not able to respond since the courts were closed as it was a second Saturday. But after receiving the court notice, she came to know that Prabhakar was getting married on Sunday. It is alleged that on Wednesday the two had gone together to watch a film and he had not revealed anything about his wedding.Pushpalatha even produced some pictorial evidence showing that the two had gone out on several occasion for trips. The wedding was stopped for sometime at Srigandha Palace convention hall till the commotion settled and both the parties sat and discussed the issue. Later, Prabhakar married Poornima. The police were unable to take action against Prabhakar as he had sought police protection sensing a possible blockade from Pushpalatha after serving a legal notice to her. “If Pushpalatha feels she is cheated, we have asked her to file a complaint which would help us to take action against Prabhakar. However, no complaint was registered against him till late evening on Sunday,” the police added.
